Peacock Bass Fishing Reports
Florida Peacock fishing stays good almost year around. The peak times are the spawning season, this is generally middle February thru May. Keep in mind that most peacock bass spawn twice a year, so spawning fish can be caught most all year around during the moonclick here phases. The winter months are generally the tougher months, the peacock bass like water in the high 70’s and above. The average peacock is in survival mode when ever the water reaches the 60’s, so
January and February can be a little unpredictable at times, but keep in mind it can be in the 80’s in January in Florida!
Most trips average 20 plus fish a trip, a fantastic day is in the 40’s and a great day is in the 30’s. State record is over 9lbs, trophy fish are caught freakily weighing between 4 to 7 pounds, the average is around 2 1/2 pounds. We catch the fish on top water, hard jerk baits, rattle traps, tube baits, as well as shiners.
